Each Group should be autonomous, except in matters affecting other groups or NA as a whole.
These meditations for Tradition four embody a variety of Spiritual Principles. The list of principles and values below may be useful as we consider applications of Tradition two.
| Independence | Openmindedness | Love / Selflessness | Service / Connection |
| Autonomy / Creativity | Freedom / Anonymity | Trust / Consistency | Unity / Humility |
| Commitment | Integrity | Responsibility | Compassion |
These meditations were written during a traditions workshop that was created to run in 2025-2026 in County Durham in the United Kingdom. The workshop was designed to help recovering addicts understand the spirit of NA traditions in the book Guiding Principles and how a spiritual life can help anyone to recover.
Each tradition was studied over a four week period, and during this time Amanda decided to create two seperate meditations, to embody the principles being studied inside of each tradition.
“The responsible practice of autonomy tells us to see our relationships and obligations more clearly and to use our creativity, our imagination, and our enthusiasm to help us fulfiil our purpose – in our group, our lives, and in service to our higher power. ”
